NEW YORK – It is time for the United States and other powers to let the Middle East govern itself in line with national sovereignty and the United Nations Charter. As the US contemplates yet another round of military action in Iraq and intervention in Syria, it should recognize two basic truths.
A stable Arab governments in the Middles East which will foster a vibrant nationalist democracy is a threat to the existence of state of Israel. Its an open secret that Israel intelligence has been keeping a balancing act for Russia,Europe and US military support. Thats why even UN sanctions are ineffective when resolutions are passed against Israel. Biblically and even a Saudi Imam agrees, this has been foretold and will only be resolve and peaceful co-existence among Middles East nations will during the period called End of Time regimes. This period is prophesied 40 years after the Second coming of Jesus Christ.
If Israel did not exist then the suggestion of Sachs would be sensible. However, Israel exists and if the Arab states are left to their own designs they will gang up on Israel and ateempt to wipe it off the face of the earth. Faced with that situation, Israel will have no choice but to use its nuclear weapons. That’s why Sachs writes as if Israel does not exist. But it’s hard to ignore the elephant in the room.
There will always be sectarian conflicts in the Middle East, Israel or no Israel. Extremist Shiites and extremist Sunnis, two dominant groups prevalent in the region who constantly are on each other’s throat will keep the Middle East in constant turmoil. The Middle East cannot govern itself, sad to say.
As to Israel, I agree with MB.
What I meant was that the Middle East cannot govern itself without conflicts and wars happening as has been happening there for a long time in the past.
