the audacity of chiz

29 October 2009

nagulat ako kay chiz.   nagulat ako nang sabihin niyang he’s out of the nationalist people’s coalition, that is, out of the shadow of party bosses playing traditional politics.    napa-wow ako sa kanyang declaration of independence, at sa wari ko ba, as i watched him declare himself a free man, free to serve the filipino people as they deserve and not as a political party dictates, i swear his aura changed, gumaan at umangat, at nagkaroon ng ibang kislap ang kanyang mga mata, no kidding!   it must be, like, you know, liberating?

before this, since ondoy, i’ve been saying to anyone who asked kung kanino ba ako na i will campaign and vote for the candidate who will promise to clean up not just the government but also the environment, and one who has the character and the personality to impose and implement a zero waste policy nationwide, which would mean radical changes all around that should shake up the system.   to my disappointment, i’ve heard nothing like this from manny, gibo, noynoy, erap, or chiz.   BUT to the credit of chiz, he was is the only presidentiable who has  concrete proposals re the relocation and rehabilitation of flood victims to alleviate  suffering.   This one in particular was an unexpected surprise:

Sen. Francis Escudero asked landlords to help in rehabilitation efforts by donating land to be developed into relocation sites.

“If they have a hundred hectares, perhaps it will not be too much to ask for them to donate 10 hectares,” he added.

i wondered of course what danding would have had to say to that.    it might even explain the rumored limited funding by npc.   but whatever triggered offchiz’s decision to bolt the party, it doesn’t matter as much as the fact that he bolted.

While Escudero’s resignation surprised many, a lawmaker from the militant Bayan Muna party-list group welcomed the move.

It is “a major political development in the presidential race. His move to bolt the NPC is a welcome move that should develop his capacity to take on many people’s issues in performing his duties to the people,” Rep. Satur Ocampo said.

Ocampo dared other aspirants to also take the stand of Escudero.

Rep. Mong Palatino of Kabataan party-list group said that the senator’s move could usher in “platform-based politics” in the 2010 polls.

this is even bigger and braver than mar roxas sliding down to vp.   suddenly noynoy isn’t such a sure thing.   audacious chiz is looking smelling talking good.   the game continues to change.   noynoy has some catching up to do.

i’m surprised u like what he did.

so , you think presidential candidates shouldnt have parties? why just the presidential candidates? lahat na!

if he’s resigned on principle, i’d wanna know: what principle? the “hindi ako magpapatali” principle? whats wrong with commitment? is NPC anti-filipino people? are ALL parties anti-filipino people?

Chiz has simply run out of options. He is trying one last game plan:Reinvent Himself.

To Equalizer: You’r correct. Chiz has read the survey and he knows the limited elbow room to squeeze funding. Seize the day, seize the hour, re-invent yourself. Be the “talk of the town” He knows he has no chance against the band wagon effect of the rising survey rate of Noynoy-Mar. In chess game, sacrificing the Queen is a dangerous move unless your one step to checkmate. good luck, chiz

If that is how Chiz tries to copy or present himself as the Obama of the Philippines I think he is also should strive to receive something similar to the Nobel Peace Prize that Obama was awarded……… How about a “Novelty Piece Price?

Tama si EQ, Chiz had to do something to re-excite his base. Tignan natin kung tataas siya sa polls.

As to the seeming support of the pula for Chiz. No dice. So ngayon liniligawan nila si Chiz.

Salamat!

We all knew who were the aspirants are. But the entry of Noynoy threw a monkey wrench into the entire political landscape. This has led the others to review and modify their strategies, chiz included. So he declares that he’s running a nontraditional campaign yet I see his ad being shown on tv. He also claimed not to recieve his pork yet if you check, he actually did.Just like the rest of the aspirants who paint themselves as poor, Chiz is a millionaire. Bicolanos will also tell you that the Escuderos too own huge tracts of land.

Chiz had to do something big to take the thunder out of Noynoy’s candidacy. No he’s not audacious but a calculating trapo who will strengthen his base before making a run for it. This is why he refuses to telegraph his punches for now. He’s trying to feel the results of his theatrics. Reading between the words of Mark Cojuangco, I don’t think the ties between Chiz and NPC is severed. Anyway, I’m not about to be fooled into thinking that the ’10 elections a fight between the poor and the elite. I belong to the middle class, I’m not a member of the elite. Populist rhetoric do not sway me easily.

It’s not as if si Roxas talaga ang gustong makasama kaya siya ang inuna.

Haha.

the implications from his arguments are novel. perhaps, when one makes major decisions, one should separate himself from all attachments and commitments.

got offered a new job? hiwalayan mo asawa mo, so you can “freely” make decisions, and are not encumbered by your family.

  10. October 31, 2009 at 12:35 pm

  11. November 1, 2009 at 7:33 am

interesting. sabi ba ni cheez na “bulok” and NPC? i thought he and they were supposed to part on civil terms?

your argument would be true if cheez was making these comments in the context of a criticism of his party specifically. pero, ang sabi nya ay klaro that he believes that running for the presidency requires “freedom” that having attachments/parties are not able to provide — so its NOT a criticism of “bulok” parties, but all parties in general!

  12. November 1, 2009 at 9:44 am

Well, oo nga. Hehe.

  13. November 1, 2009 at 10:04 pm

    right on, teo!

    noynoy? bakeeet?

  14. November 2, 2009 at 10:36 pm

Isn’t Chiz’s father a congressman? If indeed Chiz is an advocate of change, they should set an example. Isn’t that called a political dynasty? He has to walk the talk. Talk is cheap and this only shows he is part of the traditional politics he so despises. I therefore challenge Chiz to resign from the senate only to prove he is an agent of change. Or is he afraid that he would no longer have an office to go back to?

We cannot simply believe every word we hear from these politicians. I do not call it audacity, I call it a calculated media move to improve his image.

  15. November 2, 2009 at 10:39 pm

Cheezy tried to change the ball game but unfornately, he made a booboo of himself because the political system works on patronage politics not on mainstream issues. Utang na loob is an ingrained vakue that permeates among non-urban and marginalized majority which influences they voting behavior.

– chiz whiz

Traditional politicians abandon their parties if they think it would boost their poltical stock. Chiz is no different. His father was a marcos crony and memeber of his cabinet. NPC is created by danding to protect their investments and hold to big businesses. Oligarchy still rules the phils and would continue to do so if people won’t act.

  18. November 3, 2009 at 1:26 am

Chiz is just a blabber mouth who captured the weak minded. Hitler and Marcos are great orators but terrible leaders. Enough with good talkers.

  19. November 3, 2009 at 4:01 am
    black sheep

I’ve never found Chiz to be a good talker. He excels in looking like someone who’s high on something, getting this vacant look and mouthing off words in straight Filipino that sounds like it makes sense but actually does not. He never answers issues directly and instead takes great delight in “orating” in Filipino, trying to sound like some patriotic intellectual. I wonder how it impresses some people? I really, really DON’T get it.

I think his “bolting” NPC is just a gimmick. Maybe NPC is going to fund his campaign secretly? Weirder things have happened in Philippine politics.

  20. November 3, 2009 at 3:28 pm

    clues for da clueless:

this was a cheap stunt for chiz to get massive media exposure and guess what? he’s getting it right now! puro si chiz ngayon pinag-uusapan, pati na yung mga may ayaw sa kanya (tulad ko) dahil kahit anong kabobohan sabihin nyan siguradong pag-uusapan yan. nagwork dba?

andali natin lahat paikutin ng trapong ito.

nothing abt principles here, grandstanding and media exposure lang!

    sakay naman kayo.

kahit naman sa sundalo wala yan naitulong.

  22. November 4, 2009 at 6:57 am

Agree, Noynoy has to catch up on a lot of things, first and foremost, he needs to present his platform illico.
